Frequently Asked Questions

Are you a genealogist?
No.  I maintain the page because I'm interested in Vallely genealogy.  The pages are intended to be a starting point with some research items and general information.

See the sidebar for real genealogist info.

How long have you been interested in genealogy?
My first project was in high school.  The Vallely side proved extremely difficult.  I traced my mother's family (Parnell and Rathburn) to England in the 1500s and then proceeded to lose the paperwork.  Kids.

When I first became interested in the internet I thought I'd put up a page and see if anyone responded.  Boy, was I surprised.  There are Vallelys in Ireland, England, Spain, Canada, the United States and Australia.

Are there any famous Vallelys?

The name crops up in some unusual places.

General Paul Vallely is a retired Major General and crops up on Fox News Channel.

Tom Vallely (the other one) is a former Massachusetts state representative, John Kerry advisor and employee of the Harvard Institute for International Development.

I remember back in the late 1970s when John Vallely was an All American basketball player on some of the great John Wooden coached UCLA teams.  He played with the Atlanta Hawks in the NBA after being their first round draft choice in 1970.

A few years later I saw an interview in Time Magazine with Linda Ronstandt by Joan Vallely.

A girl named Tannis Vallely was a regular in a mid 80s show called Head of the Class.  Her father, Jim Vallely, has numerous credits for writing, producing and creating shows.

Mike Vallely is apparently some kind of super skateboarding legend.

Then there's the old country.  Apparently everyone with musical talent stayed in Ireland.  Niall Vallely, Fintan Vallely and John Vallely come to mind.

There are no famous criminals named Vallely.

I noticed you run ads.  Do you make money?

Yeah, right.  It kind of breaks even or close to it.
