Hi all,

I'm new to this site and I'm Anthony Vallely and I live in the North East of England. I have been doing some work recently on tracing my family name to Ireland but I have been quite frustrated so far.

I wondered does anyone know of a Vallely Coat of arms of family crest I have a description of one from Sir General Burkes General Armory, Ulster King of Arms in 1884. It is described as Gules, three bars or, on a canton ermine a bend lozengy azure and gold. but this is quite hard to understand I think.

Can anyone help at all?

I've researched the name for thirty years and there is no coat of arms.  Most of that stuff is marketing.  I'm no expert but most coats of arms were granted to individuals, not their heirs.

Vallely - Scotland/Ireland: I have searched the Scottish public records. My great great grandfather, John Vallely is identified in the 1891 Census as having been born in Tyrone, Ireland. At the time, he appears to have been living with his wife, Marg or Mary Vallely (born in Formagh, Ireland) in a one room Coal Company tenement in Carfin, Scotland. They were identified as 60 years of age at the time of the Census. My greatgrandfather, Owen, lived in Glasgow and his son James Hillen Vallely was born in Glasgow in 1882. James emigrated to Canada around 1900, and in the process the name changed mysteriously to "Vallery". FYI

There are still Vallelys here in Tyrone. I would love to find a connection in Scotland.

2 Things here.

Firstly: Anthony Vallely, I to live in the NE of England, in Ashington to be precise. It would be great to maybe meet up and see if we can identify a link with the family name, it seems strange that there are a number of us in the NE and I would imagine that there must be a link somehow?

Secondly: BVallely, I have managed to trace my family back to the Tyrone area of Ireland, to a place called Six Mile Cross, where James Vallely was born 1864, and his parents were Hugh Vallely & Ann McGough. It would be great if we could link up and also share some info to see if the Vallely name links. Also with you being in the Tyrone area you may have already checked church records etc... which I am unable to do.

Look forward to speaking to you both.

Regards

Vince Vallely
