Ed Vallely was appointed Chief of the Ithaca Police Department in
November, 2008, becoming the first officer to rise through the ranks of
the department to chief in more than 40 years.
During his time at the department, Ed Vallely worked 18 years in
Investigations, heading up the juvenile unit, where he handled many
child sex abuse cases.
Chief Vallely oversees a department with more than 100 employees and a
budget of roughly $10 million.
